About Jess

I am a Hillsborough Community College (HCC) alumna and part of Psi Beta National Honor Society.

I am a Student Support Specialist at the local community college and help students face challenges on a regular basis.

Pursuing my BA in English has enabled me to enhance my skills and communication with others. My long term goal is to become an English Professor. Nothing brings me more joy than being able to bring life to the English language and refine my students understanding.

About the lesson

Before we begin, we will briefly discuss what your needs are so I can accommodate my skills to fit your learning style as best as possible. We will answer questions like: What kind of assignment is this? Is this a narrative/persuasive/argumentative essay? Is this a vocabulary assessment? Is this a literary analysis?

As we go into the lesson, I want to assess your ability to think critically.

For assistance in analyzing readings, we will answer questions like: How does this apply to real life? What is the central theme(s)? Who is the target audience? Is there an alternative ending?

For essay assistance, we will brainstorm, discuss ideas, build a plan and foundation for structure, do research and gain insight, complete a rough draft, and a final essay.

I am also educated in preparing annotated bibliographies and am trained in MLA formatting.

I'm truly passionate about helping others. English Language Arts can be a challenge, but I promise to enlighten you and address your difficulties.
