About Shermae
I’m Shermae, a Special Education teacher with 14 years of teaching experience. I have taught both regular and special education students, including young learners ages 5–7. I use engaging, child-centered, and Science of Reading–aligned lessons to help students build strong literacy skills. I’m passionate about creating a positive learning environment where every child can learn and grow.

My lessons are tailored to the Science of Reading, using evidence-based approaches to help children develop strong foundational reading skills. I focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension, while adjusting instruction to each learner’s needs and pace. This is important because the Science of Reading helps children build reading skills systematically and effectively, giving them the foundation they need to become confident, independent readers.
