About Dominik
I help adults speak Czech naturally and confidently with practical lessons designed for real life.
I'm originally from Ostrava (Czech Republic), but I've spent the last several years living and working in the UK, where I built my career in an English-speaking environment. That experience gave me something most Czech tutors don't have: I know exactly what it feels like to function professionally in a second language. I know the frustration of sitting in a meeting and missing the joke. I know what it takes to go from "I understand most things" to "I can lead this presentation."
Today I work full-time as a Product Trainer, coaching adults from very different backgrounds: engineers, sales teams, managers, people who need to learn fast and apply it immediately. I hold a Bachelor's in Business Management and a Master's in Project Management, both completed in the UK.
When you book a lesson with me, you get someone who understands the struggle and will walk with you as we build a clear path from where you are to where you want to be.

How I teach
I don't start with a textbook, I start with a conversation. In our first lesson we just get to know each other: why you're learning Czech, what you actually want to do with it, and what's worked for you before (and what hasn't). Everything after that gets built around what I learn there, not a fixed set of chapters.
Once we're going, we spend far less time on grammar exercises and far more time using the language for real. You'll speak, listen, mess things up, ask questions, and slowly things start clicking. Grammar still comes into it, but it's there to help you say what you mean, not the other way round.
Every so often we stop and take a proper look at how it's going: what's clicked, what still feels shaky, how far you've come, and whether we're still working towards what you actually wanted out of this. If something's not working, we change it.
At the end of the day, I just want you to walk away from lessons actually able to use Czech, not just able to explain a rule about it.
