About Dan

I'm Dan and I have a PhD in Physics and a passion for guitar playing. I have been playing for nearly 20 years and I love that there is always something more to learn with guitar playing. In my early years of playing I had guitar lessons but have since been self taught, dissecting techniques and setting up the instrument for myself. Now my aim to share not just what I have learned during this time, but also how to unlock aspects of guitar playing for yourself, to help both new and experienced guitar players reach their next goal.

Over the past 20 years I have played live in bands, written and recorded music and I have customised and maintained a variety of guitars.

I have also taught Physics at degree level, from which I have developed excellent communication skills to ensure that students have a crystal clear understanding of the material we cover.

About the lesson

My background is in Physics but I have always had a real love for technical guitar playing. Like with teaching Physics, my methodology is to strip guitar playing back to its fundamentals to ensure students have a strong foundation with guitar playing and can feel comfortable and confident when playing. I also cover song writing, improvisation and recording techniques for students interested in expanding their guitar knowledge further. I also teach guitar maintenance, sharing my knowledge in guitar care and repairs.
Lessons are 40 minutes long to ensure students have enough time to absorb information but don't become fatigued.
