About STEFANIA
I am a Colombian dancer in training with experience teaching personalized classes in the foundations of tropical dances such as salsa, bachata, and merengue. I have been part of amateur-level competition groups and I currently continue my professional development as a member of a salsa training group, complemented by regular classes and workshops ranging from 9 to 16 hours per week. My teaching approach is structured, supportive, and student-centered, with a strong focus on body awareness, musicality, partner work, and building confidence in every student.

My teaching approach is centered on confidence, body awareness, and enjoyment. I believe that learning to dance is not just about memorizing steps, but about understanding how your body moves, feeling comfortable with music, and building trust in yourself. I create a safe, encouraging space where students can learn at their own pace and truly enjoy the process.
I focus on:
- Body awareness and posture to build strong movement foundations
- Musicality and rhythm adapted to each student’s level
- Progressive learning, starting from simple movements and gradually adding complexity
- Personalized feedback to correct technique gently and effectively
I adapt my explanations using visual demonstrations, repetition, and practical exercises, making sure each concept is understood before moving forward.
A typical class includes:
- Warm-up and mobility to connect with the body and prevent injuries
- Basic technique and foundations (steps, weight transfer, posture)
- Rhythm and musicality exercises
- Simple combinations or sequences applied to salsa, bachata, or merengue
- Cool down and reflection, reinforcing confidence and awareness
- Lessons are flexible and adjusted according to the student’s progress and goals.
What makes my teaching different is my focus on conscious movement, confidence-building, and partner work. I help students understand not only how to move, but also how to connect—with their own body, the music, and their dance partner.
In partner work, I emphasize:
- Connection and communication between partners
- Leading and following techniques adapted to beginner levels
- Body awareness and spatial awareness while dancing together
- Respect, trust, and comfort in shared movement
This approach helps students feel more relaxed, present, and confident when dancing with others, whether in class or in social dance settings. I don’t rush the learning process. Instead, I help students understand why movements work, not just how to do them. This creates more natural, relaxed, and enjoyable dancing.
I also prioritize a supportive environment where mistakes are part of learning, not something to fear.
My lessons are designed for:
- Beginners and basic-level students
- People with little or no prior dance experience
- Adults looking to improve coordination, confidence, and body connection
- Anyone interested in learning salsa, bachata, or merengue in a personalized and pressure-free way
Classes are ideal for students who want to enjoy dancing, build solid foundations, and feel more comfortable expressing themselves through movement.
