About Devlina
I am pursuing my Master's Degree from Deakin University and my specialisation is in Public Relations. But prior to that, when I began with my Bachelor's (Honours degree) in English Literature in 2014, I began tutoring at my home, so it has nearly been 4 years until 2017 when I came to Melbourne for my tertiary education. I have experience of teaching English, Arts subjects (history, political science, geography) to kindergarten students as well as middle school and high school students, I have the experience of tutoring Bachelor's students, especially who were majoring in English Literature and they have attained first division in their results all throughout their semesters. I have tutored 12-grade arts students and have helped them in preparing for the final exam and they have achieved 90 to 95% in their overall score.

As I have taught Arts related subjects like English, history, political science etc., for 4 years, I have realised that students learn and remember things better in two ways; first) when they explore a subject themselves and in-depth or second) when they are asked to re-write the given study material in their own lingo that will help them memorise it. These techniques work best for middle school or high school students but for uni students, both the tutor and the student have to put an equal amount of effort in exploring the subjects in depth and making useful notes that will benefit in essays/assignments or in exams. For Uni students, especially those who are studying arts subjects, teaching method has to be more of a storyteller, their interest has to be grabbed by telling them interesting aspects related to the topics and then it becomes important for them to explore in depth with the help of the tutor.
