About Annie
Annie received a Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Oregon. She went on to earn a Master's degree in Arts and Teaching from Concordia University in Portland and her Administration license. She currently holds teaching and administration licenses in Oregon and is licensed as highly qualified in language arts. She started her tutoring company in 2010 which she has maintained part-time throughout her teaching career.
Annie started her career as a 5th grade teacher. After 6 years teaching, she was asked to be a foundational team member for a new middle school. With her partner teacher, they built the school's language arts and social studies program from the ground up.
After several months launching the program, she was promoted to vice principal of the middle school. In 2021, I returned to the classroom teaching 6th grade for a year before becoming the Dean of Students at a middle school in 2022.
In 2010, she started a company tutoring students online and that she continues to work with today. In her tutoring career, she has worked with students from kindergarten through 10th grade. She's tutored in math, language arts, science, writing, basic skills, life skills, executive functioning, and various homeschool programs.
I have a background in working with students with autism, oppositional defiance, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, executive functioning struggles, and a wide range of learning differences. I also am well versed in trauma informed teaching, collaborative problem solving, and restorative justice.

What does Annie offer through tutoring?
I work with my students to fill in any gaps that may be missing from their learning, to push ahead to the next level, and to maintain current levels through summers. We work together on all areas of language arts, math, and executive functioning skills. I use a wide variety of lessons and plans in tutoring sessions to supplement current classwork and provide a well rounded curriculum over the summers.
I offer tutoring year round. During the school year, we will focus on filling in any gaps in learning, supplementing current classroom lessons, homework, and insuring understanding of classwork. During the summer, we will work to maintain current levels, reteach any content that has been missed or misunderstood, and push forward for the next school year.
What sets me apart from other tutors is my wide range of experience working with students from various backgrounds and working through various learning challenges. I use project based learning strategies, creative instruction, and skill based instruction.
I will work with my students to create a plan that will best help them to succeed and gain tools that they will use throughout their academic career. I have experience working with students from kindergarten through 10th grade.
