About Alisha
I am a Masters Graduate in Chemical Engineering, making me extremely well positioned to tutor specifically maths and science related subjects. I work as an engineer at a water treatment and energy consultancy, allowing me to put all of my knowledge into practice.
I have been tutoring for the last two years and have achieved a fantastic track record through my broken down, and simplified teaching style. Keeping students engaged through my sessions is critical and I do this by explaining complex material in an easy-to-understand manner before testing the student's knowledge to ensure that the concept is truly understood and not just listened to. I focus heavily on past paper and exam style questions and I use these as a educational resource throughout each topic studied and not just at the end which is often seen.
Prior to this I have attended a grammar school where I achieved 13 GCSEs which included 7 A* grades (GCSEs completed include Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics and English). Working with young people is extremely rewarding for me. I am a STEM ambassador and I have many experiences teaching and helping, particularly GCSE students, voluntarily to develop their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) careers. I have also worked at a boarding school where I was fully responsible for the safety and well-being of well over 50 students. I thoroughly enjoy teaching students of all ages and my academic qualifications together with my teaching experience enables me to tutor to a high standard.
