About Tessa
I hold a Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry and have devoted ten years to teaching students how to understand and appreciate the complexities of chemical science. My passion for chemistry began with curiosity about how substances interact, transform, and influence the environment. Over time, I realised that teaching offers a unique opportunity to inspire curiosity, strengthen analytical thinking, and develop confidence in learners. I approach teaching with patience, clarity, and adaptability. Each student receives guidance tailored to their learning style, allowing complex concepts to become accessible and engaging. I emphasise hands-on exploration, critical reasoning, and contextual understanding to cultivate independent scientific thinking and problem-solving skills. I encourage students to view chemistry as a dynamic and relevant discipline rather than an abstract subject. Beyond teaching, I actively participate in research discussions, laboratory innovation, and professional development. Staying current with scientific advancements ensures that my lessons are accurate, meaningful, and engaging. Students begin with atomic structure, chemical bonding, and periodic trends to establish a strong foundation. Intermediate learners explore reaction mechanisms, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, and acids and bases. Advanced students investigate organic synthesis, spectroscopy, kinetics, and complex molecular systems. Laboratory exercises, simulations, and analytical experiments are integrated into lessons to reinforce theoretical knowledge and build practical competency. I focus on fostering independent scientific thinking and problem-solving capabilities at every stage. Through chemistry, students develop precision, critical analysis, and intellectual independence.
