About Freya

Hi, I'm Freya! I recently achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Latin, alongside 10 Grade 9's overall and a Distinction in Extended/Further Maths. I know firsthand how challenging GCSEs can be, and I'm passionate about helping students build confidence and succeed in their exams. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging environment where students feel confident asking questions. My lessons are clear, structured, and tailored to each student's needs, so you can grasp tricky concepts and feel fully prepared. I'm approachable, encouraging, and have a genuine commitment to each student's individual success. I take pride in clear communication and in making Latin understandable, enjoyable and rewarding!

Currently I am studying Latin at A-Level.
I also won the EMACT Latin Reading Competition 2025, held in Loughborough.

About the lesson

Having recently been through the exams at the top level, I know exactly what examiners look for and how to maximise marks as well as understanding not only the content but also the workload, pressure, and anxiety that many students face. My goal is to create a calm, supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. I break tricky topics into clear steps, then once a strong foundation has been built, I use exam-style questions and past papers to show how to apply them in practice. This helps them apply their knowledge, improve exam technique, and feel well prepared for whatever the paper throws at them. I also focus on time management and confidence-building strategies so students can perform at their best under pressure.
A typical lesson is 1 hour, starting with a recap, then step-by-step teaching, guided practice, exam-style questions, and past papers, ending with a short summary. I provide optional (although recommended) practice for between lessons so students can keep improving at their own pace. Importantly, I adapt and structure every lesson to the individual student - focusing on their personal goals, areas of difficulty, and preferred learning style. This ensures that each session is relevant, efficient, and effective. My lessons are for GCSE students (Years 9-11) of all abilities - whether aiming to secure a pass, boost confidence, or push for top grades.
