About Ammara
Hi! My name is Ammara, and I am a Year 11 VCE student with a strong passion for English and helping younger students reach their academic potential. I currently undertake English literature, Legal studies, Health, and Sociology.
My consistently strong results in Writing and Reading Comprehension, demonstrated through state-wide assessments such as NAPLAN, as well as my placement in Advanced English classes and placement in the High Achievers Program/Enrichment classes throughout my secondary schooling, have inspired me to pursue tutoring.
I am friendly, patient and approachable, and I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and are not afraid of making mistakes. I aim to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students can develop their skills while also becoming more confident in their abilities.
Outside of school, I enjoy going to the gym, swimming, spending time with my friends and family, and exploring my interests outside of academics. I also enjoy meeting new people and working with younger students, which is one of the reasons I find tutoring so rewarding.
As a current student myself, I understand the challenges students can face with English and schoolwork. I am able to explain concepts in a clear and straightforward way and adapt my teaching to suit each student's individual needs and level. I'm also fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, and I can understand Punjabi!!
I offer English tutoring for students from Prep to Year 9, including support with reading, writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, comprehension, creative writing, essay writing and general schoolwork. Whether a student needs help catching up, wants to strengthen their foundations or simply wants to become more confident in English, I am committed to providing patient, personalized and engaging support.
I look forward to helping students develop their English skills, achieve their goals and feel more confident in the classroom.

My approach to tutoring is supportive, personalized and focused on helping students build both their English skills and confidence. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to their individual strengths, weaknesses, learning style and school requirements.
I aim to make lessons engaging rather than simply having students memorize information. Depending on the student's needs, I use guided explanations, practice questions, reading activities, comprehension exercises, vocabulary development, writing tasks, constructive feedback and step-by-step examples. For students who find English difficult, I break concepts down into simple and manageable steps and work at a comfortable pace. For students who are already confident, I provide more challenging activities to help them extend their skills.
Lessons are typically around 60 minutes, although the length can be adjusted depending on the student's age, attention span and individual needs. A typical lesson may include reviewing previous work, introducing a new skill or concept, completing guided practice together, and finishing with independent activities or feedback.
