My Approach as a Yoruba Tutor
As a Yoruba tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience, I use a learner-centered and interactive approach that focuses on communication, culture, and confidence. My goal is to help every student understand, speak, read, and appreciate the Yoruba language naturally and joyfully.
Teaching Method and Techniques
I combine conversation practice, storytelling, songs, proverbs, and real-life examples to make lessons engaging and practical. I also use visual aids, games, and audio recordings to help students improve pronunciation and listening skills. Grammar and vocabulary are introduced gradually through meaningful context, not memorization.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical 60-minute lesson includes:
Warm-up: Quick review or short conversation to build fluency.
New Content: Introduction of new vocabulary, expressions, or grammar through stories or dialogue.
Practice: Guided speaking, listening, or writing exercises.
Cultural Insight: A short segment exploring Yoruba traditions, proverbs, or etiquette.
Feedback & Homework: Personalized feedback and simple practice tasks to strengthen retention.
