My ESL teaching relies on detailed diagnostic assessment at the start of every tutoring relationship, identifying precisely where a student's specific weaknesses lie before designing a targeted plan rather than a generic curriculum for everyone. Grammar structures are drilled repeatedly until they meet a genuinely conversational and workplace ready standard, not simply until they sound reasonably acceptable in casual conversation. I schedule regular review sessions monthly, replicating real conversational pressure a student will actually face at work or in daily life. Feedback is specific and tied directly to observable patterns in a student's speech or writing rather than vague general encouragement offered instead. Every lesson serves measurable progress directly.
