About Miguel

I was born in Mexico City, a place that has the same amount of people as half of South Africa! I have had the pleasure to live in the United States, Canada and now South Africa of course.

I speak Spanish and English fluently and can have a decent conversation in French. I can also understand a bit of Afrikaans and some words in isiZulu.

I am an industrial engineer and have worked for a few big manufacturing companies besides teaching Spanish and English. As a language tutor, I started since I was in university and continued on as a teacher in some schools in Mexico for 7 years. I like to make the lessons as practical as possible, so that the vocabulary, expressions and topics we learn can help you connect with Spanish speaking people more easily.

About the lesson

After getting to know you a bit better and your current Spanish level and goals, I will draft a unique learning plan focusing not only on grammar and vocabulary, but also on how much reading, writing and speaking we will do.

-Passing a school course will most likely need a strong focus on grammatical rules, writing and reading, but not forgetting the fun part of learning a new language.

-Planning for a holiday will mean lots of speaking and casual phrases and vocabulary. You will definitely impress your family and friends when you start ordering at a restaurant or asking for directions.

-Job related goals will move us down the path of subject or industry specific vocabulary, formal writing and speaking. As an engineer and with over 10 years of labor experience, I will be sure to give you the tools you need to land that new job or promotion.
