About Lydia

My name is Lydia and I am a passionate writer, composer, artist, and teacher. I love teaching Spanish, English, music, and the ukulele, among other subjects. With many years of experience in education, I have worked as a primary school teacher in Ireland, taught private lessons in Montreal, Canada, and in Spain I have taught both primary and preschool students in a variety of subjects, including English. Since 2019, I have been teaching English, Spanish, and ukulele online to students from all over the world. I carefully adapt each lesson to suit the pace and needs of each student. My goal is to make learning an enjoyable journey, helping students progress step by step with confidence. I strive to create a warm, safe, and motivating environment where learners feel free to experiment, grow, and develop their skills with enthusiasm.

About the lesson

As a Spanish teacher, I adapt every lesson to suit the age, level and objectives of my students. My approach is dynamic, communicative and practical, enabling you to use the language in real-life situations from day one.

I use conversation activities, practical exercises, reading texts and songs. I also use visual resources and examples from everyday life to make learning more relatable and natural.

As a teacher, I create a warm, safe and motivating environment where you can feel confident enough to make mistakes, learn and progress without feeling under pressure. As a musician, I also sometimes use songs with my ukulele to reinforce vocabulary and pronunciation.

I teach students of all ages and levels, from beginners taking their first steps in Spanish to advanced students looking to perfect their fluency, grammar or specialised vocabulary.

I am also the author of Illustrated Spanish Idioms, a guide to Spanish idioms which is an ideal resource for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of authentic expressions and speak like a native.
