About Danse
Professionalism, Experience & Teaching Philosophy
I am a professional Haitian Konpa dance instructor with over 15 years of teaching experience, committed to preserving and sharing Haitian culture through movement. I teach locally throughout the Tampa Bay, Florida area and regularly travel nationally and internationally to lead master workshops, cultural intensives, and special events.
My instruction is grounded in structure, clarity, and respect for the art form. Each class is thoughtfully planned, time-efficient, and adaptable to the needs of individuals or groups. I prioritize a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing at their own pace.
I bring a high level of professionalism to every lesson: punctuality, clear communication, well-organized lesson plans, and a strong commitment to student progress. Whether teaching private sessions, group classes, or large workshops, I maintain consistent teaching standards and deliver culturally accurate, high-quality instruction.
Beyond local teaching, I am connected to a global network of Konpa dance affiliates across multiple countries, which allows me to stay current with evolving styles while honoring traditional foundations.
This international exposure strengthens my credibility and ensures students receive authentic, well-rounded instruction rooted in both history and contemporary practice.
Students can expect:
Clear, progressive instruction
Cultural education alongside technique
Safe, inclusive, and respectful learning spaces
Guidance tailored to all levels, from beginners to advanced dancers
Access to a worldwide Konpa dance community
My goal is not only to teach steps, but to build confident dancers who understand the culture, music, and soul of Haitian Konpa.

My Approach as a Tutor & How I Share My Knowledge
Teaching Method & Techniques
My teaching begins with Haitian culture first. Before movement, students learn the why behind the dance: its history, music, social context, and emotional expression. Konpa is more than steps; it’s a language of connection, rhythm, and storytelling. I focus on fundamentals, posture, lead-and-follow technique, musicality, and natural body movement, ensuring students build a strong foundation while developing confidence and flow.
Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson is structured yet flexible, adapting to the student’s
level and goals:
Cultural context and music breakdown
Warm-up and body awareness exercises
Konpa fundamentals (steps, rhythm, timing, partner connection)
Musicality and interpretation
Guided practice with feedback
Optional fusion elements when applicable
For students with experience in other dance styles (such as salsa, bachata, or ballroom), I help bridge their existing skills into Konpa, highlighting similarities and key differences to accelerate learning.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What truly distinguishes me is my global perspective. I have dance affiliates across multiple countries, allowing me to teach Konpa as a living, evolving art form connected to a worldwide community. This international network enriches my instruction and exposes students to authentic styles, social dance etiquette, and global Konpa influences.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are open to all levels—from complete beginners to advanced dancers. I work with:
Adults and young adults
Beginners seeking a cultural introduction
Intermediate dancers refining technique and musicality
Advanced dancers deepening expression and mastery
Lessons are personalized to each student’s pace, goals, and comfort level, creating a welcoming and empowering learning environment for everyone.
