About Monty

Hello to all the music lovers!

This is Malay Biswas, a vocalist, guitarist, and music educator with 9 years of experience in music. For the past 4 years, I have also been running my own music academy, helping students discover their musical potential and develop their skills. Today, I want to share my musical journey — a journey that started with a childhood passion and gradually became an important part of who I am today.

Since childhood, I have always been passionate about music. However, I grew up in a village where there were no music institutes nearby where I could go and learn music professionally. Despite these challenges, my love for music never faded.

My school used to organise various functions and cultural programmes, where music played an important role. My friends often encouraged me to participate in these events, and my teachers were always supportive of my singing. Their encouragement gave me the confidence to believe in myself and inspired me to explore music more deeply.

Since I didn’t have access to a music institute, I decided to find another way to learn. I started learning music online from different gurus, and gradually, I began to understand the beauty and depth of this art. The more I learned, the stronger my passion became.

Along this journey, I also discovered another passion that became very close to my heart — the guitar, my favourite musical instrument. Learning guitar opened up a whole new world of musical expression for me. It helped me understand music from a different perspective and strengthened my connection with melodies, rhythm, and harmony.

As I continued developing my skills, I also pursued formal music education. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Hindustani Vocal Music from IGNOU and completed my 6th year (Prabhakar) in music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti. I also pursued guitar learning through Trinity College London, further expanding my musical knowledge and experience.

But as my musical journey progressed, I began to notice something interesting.

Many students learn Indian classical music, but when they try to sing Bollywood songs, romantic melodies, or their favourite light music, they often find it difficult to apply what they have learned. Some students can perform classical exercises well but struggle to use those techniques in practical singing.

This made me think: Why should classical music and light music be treated as two completely separate worlds when classical knowledge can help us become better singers in every style?

That question inspired me to develop a different approach to music education.

I wanted to create a learning structure where students could understand the fundamentals of Indian classical music while also learning how to apply those techniques to light music, Bollywood songs, and modern melodies. My vision was to make classical music easier to understand, more practical to apply, and more enjoyable to learn.

I believe that learning classical music should not feel complicated or disconnected from the songs we love. Instead, it should provide a strong foundation that helps us improve our voice, develop musical understanding, recognise notes, maintain rhythm, and sing with greater confidence and expression.

My teaching approach combines traditional musical knowledge with practical singing techniques, helping students gradually build their skills while enjoying the process. Whether you want to strengthen your classical foundation, improve your singing, learn your favourite songs, or explore music as a passion, I aim to make your musical journey easier and more meaningful.

Having experienced the challenges of learning music without easy access to a music institute, I understand how confusing it can sometimes feel to find the right guidance. Through my 9 years of musical experience and 4 years of running my own academy, I have developed a teaching approach focused on making music learning structured, engaging, and accessible. I want every student to feel encouraged, supported, and motivated to grow at their own pace.

For me, music is not just about singing the right notes or playing an instrument. It is about expressing emotions, understanding the language of melodies, and connecting with people through sound.

Now, I am excited to share my knowledge and experience with aspiring musicians and introduce a more practical, interesting, and enjoyable way of learning music.
