About Dara
Hello! I’m a vocal coach with a DMA in Vocal Performance and over 2+ years of teaching experience. My passion is helping adults explore singing in a way that feels natural and freeing. Many of my students are hobbyists, community choir members, or people returning to singing after years away. My lessons focus on mindful breathing, relaxed posture, and tension-free sound. I emphasize building confidence in a warm, judgment-free environment. We explore how singing can calm the mind and nurture creativity. I love working across styles like Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult music. My approach encourages curiosity rather than perfection. I help you understand your voice’s unique qualities and how to make them shine. Singing isn’t just about performance—it’s about connection. In my teaching, I focus on training the ear as much as the voice. Singing is as much about listening as it is about producing sound. I guide students through exercises that strengthen pitch recognition and interval awareness. My lessons help singers match notes easily and harmonize beautifully. We work on ear training drills that build tuning precision and confidence. I use call-and-response techniques and tonal patterns to develop musical reflexes. For advanced teens and quartet players, I focus on harmony blending and group balance. Each lesson includes feedback that targets tone, phrasing, and intonation. My method is practical but encouraging. I make complex listening tasks simple and fun. The goal is to help you sing in tune every time, with ease and joy. I teach students to rely on their inner ear rather than just the piano or accompaniment. This builds independence and control. With time, your confidence and accuracy will grow in every performance.
