About Lena
Hi, I’m a singing tutor with over 10 years of experience and a Licentiate of Music in Voice. I specialize in working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and those returning to singing after time away. My approach is gentle, supportive, and rooted in creating a low-pressure space where learning feels safe and inspiring. I focus on breathwork, vocal relaxation, and posture to build a strong and healthy foundation. Mindfulness in music plays a big role in my teaching—I believe being present helps unlock both tone and confidence. Whether you're exploring Jazz, Folk, Blues, or Contemporary Adult styles, I tailor lessons to your voice and your goals. My sessions blend technical skills with emotional expression, helping you find your unique sound. I love guiding people as they discover singing not just as a skill, but as a powerful tool for self-care and creativity. Many of my students come to me looking for joy and rediscovery—and leave with a renewed sense of self. It’s never too late to sing. For both The Quartet Player and The Fiddler, stage confidence begins with ownership of space—mentally and physically. We start by developing breath control through sustained-note exercises and diaphragmatic breathing to fuel vocal power and calm nerves. Posture is refined early, aligning spine and shoulders to anchor both voice and presence. Diction drills follow, using tongue twisters and lyrical phrasing to ensure clarity and projection, especially when performing with microphones. Microphone technique is tailored—handheld dynamics for The Fiddler, stand-based elegance for The Quartet Player. We explore distance, angle, and proximity effects through hands-on sessions. Students record performances for video feedback, helping them analyze gestures, facial expressions, and connection with the audience. Song choice is strategic—selecting pieces that match vocal strengths while nudging emotional expression and risk-taking. Movement exercises unlock body awareness, especially in transitions between phrases and sections. We introduce stage presence drills like “centering with intent” and “commanding stillness,” crucial for drawing attention. Confidence grows through repetition and celebration of small wins. Vocal stamina apps track practice consistency, encouraging self-discipline and measurable growth. Charisma is cultivated, not born. Through storytelling, movement, and authenticity, both personas learn to light up the stage—not just perform on it.
