About Alma
Hi, I’m Alma—a full-time dual enrollment student at Florida International University pursuing a degree in Biochemistry while finishing high school. I specialize in tutoring math for middle and high school students, including Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and SAT preparation.
As someone who balances high school and college-level STEM coursework, I understand what it takes to succeed in challenging subjects. My goal is to help students not only improve their grades but also build confidence in their problem-solving skills. As a dual enrollment student at Florida International University pursuing a degree in Biochemistry while completing high school, I bring a strong foundation in both advanced mathematics and science-based problem solving. My teaching approach is built on patience, clarity, and adaptability—I focus on understanding how a student learns and tailor my explanations to match their learning style.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material to reinforce understanding, followed by guided practice with new concepts. I use real-life examples from science and medicine to make abstract math problems more relatable, especially for students interested in STEM. We wrap up each session with a summary and practice problems to reinforce key takeaways.
I understand the challenges students face because I’m a student too—just one who’s passionate about making math less intimidating and more intuitive.
