About Simha
Hi! I’m Simha — I’m a native Latvian speaker who’s passionate about languages, culture, and helping others learn something new. I grew up speaking Latvian and English, and I’ve always loved sharing the little details that make the Latvian language and culture so special. I'm making the effort now to learn Japanese and teach Latvian! Outside of teaching, I enjoy exploring different languages, traveling, and learning about how people express themselves around the world. I’m friendly, patient, and always happy to adapt to different personalities and learning styles. My hobbies are gardening, plane spotting, photography, Photoshop, dance, radio, and some tech stuff. I like boba and sushi. I've lived in the U.S. all my life and was born here. I do visit Latvia every summer though. *I'm male, I'm not sure why the website is saying I am female.*

Hi! I’m a native Latvian speaker who’s passionate about sharing the beauty and history of my language with others. Latvian is one of the world’s oldest living languages, part of the ancient Baltic branch that shares roots with Sanskrit and preserves features found in no other modern European tongue.
Spoken by fewer than two million people worldwide, Latvian opens the door to a culture that’s rich, musical, and full of traditions that have survived for centuries.
In my lessons, we can focus on anything you'd like! It will be structured around some areas though to help boost your understanding of other areas.
You can use this for many things, such as if you’re visiting Latvia for travel, academics, or other reasons. Basic phrases can make your trip feel more personal locals love when someone makes the effort to speak their language. You’ll be able to order food, ask for directions, use transit, explore small towns, and have real conversations instead of just sticking to tourist spots. I will teach you learn about the culture and other places to visit and their history for not only exploring the big main cities.
Learning Latvian isn’t just about gaining a new skill, it’s also about keeping a small but beautiful language alive and discovering a piece of Europe most people never get to experience.
