About Jayant
I am pursuing my MA in Economics at University of Toronto with experience conducting academic research in quantitative economics. My work has involved mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and the study of advanced economic theory, giving me a strong foundation in both mathematics and economics.
Unlike many tutors who focus primarily on homework help, I specialize in helping students understand the deeper structure of a subject. Whether we are studying derivatives, linear algebra, proof-writing, econometrics, or economic theory, I focus on building intuition, analytical thinking, and long-term mastery rather than memorization.

My background in both mathematics and economics allows me to explain technical material from several perspectives. In mathematics, I can help with calculus, linear algebra, proof-writing, and real analysis. In economics, I teach microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematical economics, econometrics, and related quantitative topics. I am particularly well suited to students who want to understand not only how to perform a calculation, but why the method works and what the result means.
I start with a brief overview of the concept using examples, diagrams, and connections to material the student already understands. We work through several problems together before the student attempts similar questions independently, with guidance and feedback as needed. I also help students develop general problem-solving strategies that they can apply to unfamiliar questions on assignments and exams.
Lessons are intended for advanced high-school students, incoming university students, and undergraduates. I can provide regular course support, focused exam preparation, help with the transition to proof-based mathematics, or a structured introduction to material beyond the student’s current curriculum.
