About Imogen

Hello! I'm Imogen, a passionate and dedicated educator with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Employment Relations + Organisation Studies. With a background in teaching aide roles, I have honed my skills in providing tailored support to students, particularly those in primary school as well as Literacy subjects (English, history, classics) for all NCEA levels.

My approach to tutoring is holistic, focusing not only on academic achievement but also on building confidence and fostering a love for learning in each student. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel empowered to explore, ask questions, and reach their full potential.

I have experience working with children and teens of varying abilities, including those with disabilities, and I am adept at adapting my teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student. Whether it's decoding and phonics through programs like Agility with Sound, or tutoring students through internals/externals, I am committed to making learning enjoyable and rewarding.

I look forward to partnering with you to help your child succeed academically and develop the skills they need to thrive in school and beyond.

About the lesson

I have a hardworking but comforting approach to teaching. My goal for tutoring is to work with my student to build on their strengths and to help them through their weaknesses in their learning in a compassionate and understanding manner. I am
able to help primary and high school students achieve their learning goals. If you are looking for English, history or classics tutoring you are welcome to skip the next paragraph! :)

Currently working as a teacher aide, I am adaptable to any kind of student. I work with a program, Agility with Sound that gives me the ability to teach phonics, sentence and paragraph structure as well as decoding words to primary school children. I am able work with children who have dyslexia or literacy delays. I am also able to tutor the usual reading, writing and math for all primary ages.

I am also able to teach English, history and classics for all NCEA levels. I am able to help with the planning, writing and research of internals/externals as well as help in the comprehension of the topic, book or movie you are studying. I promise to try make the lessons fun and beneficial to your learning.

My lessons are an hour but can be shorter or longer if needed.

We met mogen through a babysitting ad she had put up. When we were speaking with her regarding our children she mentioned that she was teacher's aid for primary school kids and we thought it would be a good opportunity to have her tutor our girls on reading and spelling. Safe to say the kids love imogen! She instilled a love for reading in both the kids and helped them sound out the letters and work out the words on their own. She is incredibly patient and engaging. Cannot recommend her enough.
