About Briana
An Orton Gillingham tutor trained professional who uses the Orton Gillingham approach to teach individuals with dyslexia or reading difficulties. I am responsible for creating a structured and systematic approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling to my students. I typically work one-on-one and tailor my lessons to the individual needs and learning style of the learner.
I use multi-sensory techniques to help the student learn, such as using hands-on activities, visual aids, and repetition. I also help the student develop strategies to decode words and improve their phonemic awareness, including recognizing sounds and understanding the relationship between letters and sounds.
I pride myself on my ability to create a therapeutic relationship with my students in a supportive learning environment. I am patient, flexible, and able to adapt my teaching style to the individual needs of each student. My ultimate goal is to help my students develop confidence in their reading and writing abilities and achieve academic success.

Orton-Gillingham is a multi-sensory approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling to people with dyslexia. It involves teaching skills in a structured and systematic way.
1. Review previous lesson: Go over any material from the previous session that the student struggled with.
2. Introduction of new material: Introduce new material in a multisensory way, using hands-on activities and visual aids.
3. Direct instruction: Provide direct instruction on phonetics, spelling rules, or other skills related to reading and writing.
4. Practice: Provide guided practice of the new material, including spelling, decoding words, and reading comprehension.
5. Independent practice: Give the student independent practice to reinforce the new material.
6. Review and feedback: Review the session with the student, discussing what was covered and giving feedback on progress.
