About Fennec
Hello! I am a trained English Language Arts and Humanities tutor of 6 years. I've worked with young children all the way to college seniors and I've enjoyed each experience. One thing I've learned over the years is that when it comes to abstract concepts (like those you find in ELA and humanities courses), it takes a very individualized approach for someone to really understand it. This is often why students struggle. The material can be incredibly boring and seemingly insignificant if it isn't being taught with a style that connects. I've had 6 years to learn teaching styles and I'm always happy to help a student on their journey to find theirs. I'm interested in working with you and finding out what it is that you want out of tutoring. Whether that is a 'get-down-to-business, no-nonsense' approach or something more broad, I'm here for you.

I want to work with my students in a friendly way so the teaching isn’t so overwhelming. Everybody is different so getting to know a student is really important. That way, we can work together to find out what works well and focus on what they need out of our sessions.
A typical lesson plan for me looks like an introduction to the issue (whether that be a specific homework assignment or an overarching confusion on a subject), short brainstorm on what the student wants from our time together, and then we'll look that the material and work from there. I always include breaks in my sessions too, because research shows that a tired and bored brain is not comprehending nearly as well as a rejuvenated and excited brain is.

I've gotten help from Fennec for a lot of history and english classes. I'm not very good at remembering dates and all of that, and Fennec helped me pass my classes. She's sweet and gave me some remembering exercises so I'd feel better prepared for tests.
Fennec is a really great tutor. She taught me for around a year when I was struggling with my first college english class. I would've never made good grades on my essays without her. She's very kind and never made me feel silly for not understanding. The sessions were always fun and it didn't really feel like work.
