About Sarah

I am an experienced tutor having worked with students who have English as their first language as well as their second language.

In 2019 I spent time in Switzerland working as a live in Au Pair for a family, tutoring their two daughters in English and Science. Over the summer of 2020 I worked as a live in English tutor in Athens tutoring two boys (EFL) in preparation for their Cambridge B2 and C1 exams. I feel I have a rich understanding of how to approach different students. I acted as a tutor at my old boarding school helping students in younger years.

I have spent one year studying a Masters of Pharmacy at King's College London before transferring to Liberal arts. I am a kind, patient and enthusiastic teacher who recognises the importance of developing a student's academic confidence.

About the lesson

My lessons are not traditional English classes. They are engaging and enjoyable with not a text book in sight - I'm sure that we will both feel the hour fly by! I believe that the life of a language is to live it and through various conversations spanning many topics we will see an exponential improvement in your language skills. I will make sure that you achieve English language excellence. My classes are for people seeking to ameliorate their oral expression, range of vocabulary, spoken fluency and accent. I implement memory recall techniques and you will find yourself doing most of the talking. I am a very bubbly and chatty individual who will make you feel at ease!

I learnt to speak conversant French through weekly visits to a French neighbour where we would spend hours speaking purely through French. My biggest barrier was confidence, not feeling embarrassed to say a word wrong or use the wrong tense. After a few lessons I felt so confident that the words would just flow out of me. We know so much more than we think we do and just need the right person to bring it out of us, I hope I can be this person for you! I know what it feels like to be the student, as well as the teacher, and feel this makes me empathetic and open. My classes are a safe space to make mistakes. Mistakes are good, they are the way we learn!
