About Ivana

Hi! I’m an EMS major at the University of Arizona, and I know firsthand that school can feel overwhelming at times. Many students want to succeed but struggle with truly understanding the material, not just memorizing it. That’s where I come in. In my former job as a peer mentor for high school students, I learned how to connect with learners, understand their struggles, and guide them step by step toward becoming more confident and successful. I bring that same patience and encouragement into every tutoring session. My lessons are relaxed, supportive, and yes, even fun! I believe it’s always okay to make mistakes, because mistakes are proof that you’re learning. I’ll work with you to break down tough concepts in Science, English, and Spanish, making sure you understand the why behind the answers. What sets me apart is that I don’t just give information. I make sure you actually learn it. I want you to walk away feeling more confident, motivated, and prepared to be the best student you can be.

About the lesson

I believe learning should never feel like just an “information dump.” Instead of overwhelming students with facts, I break down concepts step by step, using real-life examples, visuals, and practice problems to make sure the material clicks. I check for understanding often, asking students to explain ideas back to me in their own words so I know the knowledge is sticking.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Check-In: A quick chat to see how you’re feeling and what you want to focus on.

Review & Warm-Up: Go over past material or homework together to build confidence.

Deep Dive: Introduce new concepts in a simple, clear way, pausing often for questions.

Interactive Practice: Work through examples, role-play scenarios (especially for science/EMS topics), or even short quizzes.

Wrap-Up & Recap: Summarize what we learned and create a short action plan so you know exactly what to review before the next session.

What Sets Me Apart

I focus on learning, not memorizing. My goal is for you to walk away confident in the “why” behind every answer.

I keep the vibe relaxed and supportive—like working with a study buddy who wants you to succeed.

I mix in humor and relatable examples to make even the hardest topics less intimidating.

I’m bilingual (English/Spanish) and can explain concepts in both languages if that helps.
