About Josie
Hello! I am a native English speaker from Sheffield in the north of England, currently living in Hamburg, Germany. My students often tell me my enthusiastic and effective approach to teaching is what makes my lessons enjoyable. What motivates me most as a teacher is building not only a student’s abilities in their English but their confidence too. I have been teaching ESL online since 2020 and have lots of experience teaching in various areas of English language development to students of a variety of ages from 6 to 71.
Before I became a teacher, I worked for a technology company for a total of 9 years. There, I founded and cultivated an education sector in which we delivered interactive workshops in schools across the UK. This development ignited my passion for teaching. My professional background means I have a lot of experience using business English including; formal communication, such as client networking, meetings, and emails. I can also provide advice on interview preparation for working or studying abroad.

I use both materials or free conversation topics to guide the lesson. I am very focused on motivating my students to speak and will give lots of help, corrections, and encouragement. My lessons can be both energetic and gentle depending on my student’s needs. My main focus is to get you feeling confident and comfortable with speaking English! My lessons are usually 30 minutes or 1 hour long.
I have a 120-hour TEFL qualification and 2 years in teaching English as a Foreign Language classes online. I also have 9 years of experience working for a technology company which included co-creating an education sector and delivering workshops in schools across the UK. I also gained much knowledge of business from my time there.
I have taught students of all ages ranging from 7-70 so I am very flexible and happy to teach all ages. I can particularly help those wanting to learn Business English and adults/teenagers of all levels.
