About John Jobert

Hey there! I’ve been obsessed with chess since my high school days, when I was that kid constantly playing and representing my school in every single tournament we could enter. Since then, I’ve kept pushing my own game, eventually hitting a peak online rating of 2200+ Rapid on Chess.com and 2200+ on Lichess.

But to me, playing well is only half the fun the real reward is teaching. I genuinely love working with beginners and intermediate players because I know exactly how frustrating those middle-tier rating plateaus can be. Chess can feel incredibly overwhelming with all the theory out there, so my goal is to strip away the confusing general advice and give you simple, practical tools you can actually use in your next games.

I take my students' progress personally, and proud for seeing them climb. Just recently, one of my students gained 200 points in two weeks, and another one to gain 300 points in a month. If you are tired of blundering free pieces, struggling to find a solid plan after the opening, or just want to finally break past your rating goal, I’m here to give you the exact structure and confidence you need to make it happen. I don't believe in forcing you to memorize endless opening books or looking at confusing engine lines. Instead, we focus on what actually happens in your real games:

A. Reviewing your losses: We’ll pull up your recent online games and figure out why a position fell apart, so you can stop making the same repeated blunders.

B. Spotting tactics fast: We'll work through puzzles together to train your eyes to see tactical shots instantly during an actual live game.

C. Learning how to plan: I'll show you how to read the board, keep your king safe, and activate your pieces without all the heavy chess confusions.

It’s all about building your confidence so you can stop guessing and start climbing the ratings.
