About Tumelo
I am a 3rd-year Civil engineering student at the University of the Witwatersrand. I've been tutoring since high school and I enjoy it. There's nothing that gives me joy other than to see students understand the concepts and get higher marks especially after thinking of giving up. I believe I am an engineer by profession and a teacher by passion.

My teaching strategy is:-
knowing my students first is the most important thing to do. This gives me a chance to know them better and to see what type of a learner they are(visual, scribbler, kinesthetic, auditory, etc), and in that way, I'll be able to know how to approach them. Motivating and encouraging them to set goals for themselves and help them to accomplish them so that I'll be able to see the progress. effective communication and respect are key, also asking questions like "can we move on?", "do you understand or should I repeat/are you confident enough to do it on your own?" , "anyone who wants to teach us this topic?", "are you ready for a mini exercise?", etc. Playing educational games that will prevent students from sleeping (game-based learning ). Implementing posters, peer sessions via WhatsApp groups, different-levelled questions, and/or home works that will help them understand the keywords of the concepts. Going through past exam papers, and making sure that they familiarize themselves with the structure of question papers and which questions/topics have more marks compared to other questions.
