About Vasudev

My name is Vasudev (Vas for short) and I am currently a student pursuing a bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering. I am very interested in cancer research and treatment and would love to pursue this after my degree is done. I did most of my studies in the United States and finished my A-levels here in England. I was fascinated with the idea of combining biological principles with engineering methods hence why I am focused on this path. As part of this journey, I have worked hard to improve my maths skills. With my previous experience as a tutor for maths and programming I am very capable of changing lesson plans to suit anyone and more importantly ensure that learning isn't seen as a task. Doing A-levels and studying at university has helped me learn how to gain knowledge but also retain it for when it's needed. Using these skills I hope to encourage and build up my students' skills to one day be self-reliant and motivated to pursue knowledge on their own.

About the lesson

My tutoring style is oriented around introducing a topic and reinforcing it in class with the help of exam-style questions. Having spent the last 5 years tutoring various students, I am very adaptable in terms of teaching styles so that ultimately topics are explained thoroughly. From teaching it back to me to visual aids, I use a variety of tools to ensure there are no gaps in your knowledge. Typically, a lesson will last 55-60 minutes with the first 5 minutes being used as an ice breaker and opportunity to lay down the plan for the day. The next 20-30 minutes will be used to introduce a topic with some practice questions so that we can discuss it together. The next 10-15 minutes is time for you to practise what you have learned through exam-style questions. Finally, the last 5 minutes are used to recap what was covered, ensure there are no gaps and plan for the next lesson. I often do encourage students to attempt more questions outside of the lesson space on their own before the next lesson. This allows me to understand where further support is needed, build confidence for the student and ensure the knowledge is retained for longer. My lessons are ideal for students that are taking on GCSE/A-level Maths, however, I am happy to support younger students!
