About Vivien

Hi! I’m an English tutor from London with over 14 years of experience helping students build confidence, improve their skills, and succeed in exams. I specialise in 11+ and 13+ entrance exams, UKiset, ISEB Pretests, GCSE/IGCSE, and IB English.

In lessons, I aim to make English clearer, more manageable, and enjoyable. I combine structured exam preparation with creative approaches from my background in theatre and writing, helping you not only improve your answers, but also think more confidently and express your ideas clearly.

Most of my students are long-term commitments as I believe the most progress and success comes when you start early (not last minute!) and grow skills over time.

Alongside tutoring, I work as a theatre-maker and run a performing arts retreat, where I lead creative workshops. This has shaped my teaching style into something supportive, relaxed, and focused on helping each student develop their own voice and confidence.

My lessons are friendly, focused, and tailored to you — and I’ll help you build the skills and confidence you need to succeed. I have an excellent track record, so if we work as a team, you are guaranteed to succeed.

About the lesson

My teaching combines structured, exam-focused preparation with creative and engaging methods drawn from my background as a theatre-maker and writer. I focus on building strong academic skills alongside confidence, clarity of expression, and independent thinking, adapting my approach to suit each student’s learning style.

Lessons typically last 1 to 1.5 hours and are fully tailored to the individual, balancing targeted exam preparation with broader skills development and motivation. I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel both encouraged and appropriately challenged.

I have a BA in English Studies (First Class) and an MA in Text and Performance (Distinction). I am a highly experienced English tutor with over 14 years of private teaching experience and more than 2,000 hours of one-to-one tuition. I specialise in preparing students for 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance exams, UKiset, ISEB Pretests, GCSE/IGCSE, and IB English. I also have experience supporting homeschooling families and students with a range of learning needs.

My lessons are suitable for students at primary, secondary, and pre-university level (typically ages 8–18), depending on exam pathway and individual goals.
