About Ishbel
I study English at university, and I really want to get people interested in the subject — not just to pass their exams (though that can’t hurt!), but to genuinely enjoy the study of English. As an admissions tutor, I am dedicated to ensuring that sixth-formers and S6s are satisfied with their applications, especially to Oxford and Cambridge.

My lessons, ideally with individual students, typically prioritise conversation. If a pupil is studying a particular text, I will ask them to read a chapter or section before our tutorials, then we will discuss it together in real time. I feel that discussion is the best way to learn, second only to teaching. I will occasionally ask for written work, like essays, past papers, or short stories, and I have also encouraged students to create presentations on their topic.
