About Carlos
Graduated from the UK in Maritime Law and a TEFL Mentor of English as a Foreign Language. Both have trained me in British English, which I have known since I was very young. My native level in British English came from getting the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), which equates to a C2 level in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Added to this are my personal interests in finance and technology, whose study has been exclusively in English. For this reason, I cover advanced terms in many areas of the language and I make a personal effort to promote their use to my students.

British English is a very flexible language since it lacks an institution that regulates it, such as the Royal Spanish Academy that regulates the use of Spanish.
British English evolves quickly and its teaching must also be flexible and up-to-date.
For basic / intermediate levels, during class I focus on learning vocabulary and oral / written expression. To express yourself well, you need grammar, and to learn grammar the student must practice it first. I thus intend to reinforce grammatical concepts through its use, with a practical purpose and for all ages.
For intermediate / advanced levels, during class I focus on the exploration of the language, its use, its expressions and its relationship with Anglo-Saxon culture. I also emphasize learning outside of class. By this I mean that at these levels, standard grammar is already known but there is a lack of depth. In order to understand and speak about abstract or specialized topics in British English, it is vital to focus the student towards advanced reading content and grammar that helps them articulate this type of language.
