About Jacob

I started at Colet Court (now St Paul's Juniors) in 2001, and progressed through St Paul's School. I completed A-Levels in English Literature, French and Drama, from which I was accepted to study English Literature and Drama at the University of Birmingham. I completed my Masters of Research (Playwriting) in 2016, also at the University of Birmingham. I specialise in teaching English and Drama up to A-Level, as well as all Humanities and Sciences, Drama and French for 11+ up to GCSE.

I live in Camden Town and also work as an actor on stage and screen.

About the lesson

I have over 5 years' experience of tutoring students across the arts, sciences and humanities up to GCSE, which I undertook during my undergraduate and post-graduate degrees. I have worked in a variety of education roles as well, including 3 years at Elevate Education, an organisation that works hands on with students in group and 1-1 settings on study skills, revision and time management techniques. From Elevate I moved to Unifrog Education, where I have just finished 7 years of work. Unifrog is a tool used by more than two-thirds of students aged 11-18 in the UK, principally to support with University, School, College and Apprenticeship Applications, Work Experience and Personal Development. I worked on a one-to-one basis with disadvantaged students to help with applications, connecting them with Universities and Employers, as well as on a holistic level with schools' senior University and Careers Counsellors. I worked on this basis with the majority of London's leading independent schools, including St Paul's, St Paul's Girls, Westminster, Harrow, Godolphin and Latymer, Latymer Upper, North London Collegiate, King's College Wimbledon, UCS, Highgate, Channing and both Francis Holland Schools. Across both Elevate and Unifrog, I have over ten years' experience in working directly with students to map out multi-year action plans, with clear, measurable goals.

Alongside working on their academic growth, I also mentor the students to connect them with the best people and opportunities, and to get the most out of these connections. I strongly believe in using a variety of pedagogical methods to get students engaging with their subjects in different levels, so I will often work through games, online and offline, role-play and visual, kinaesthetic and auditory educational style.
