About Ian
Hi. I’m Ian.
I am from South Africa and currently living in Johannesburg.
In my spare time I like to watch videos and documentaries about different countries, their people and their cultures.
My Native language is Afrikaans, but in South Africa being a multi - cultural country, English is commonly used in all walks of life, especially in business, commerce, teaching etc.
I gained a lot of commercial experience in the business language field that I can share with interested students.
I see myself as a mentor for one or more students that in the real teaching environment can communicate with my students, listen carefully to what their needs, requirements and concerns might be, with a very sympathetic ear and all the patience necessary to assist where possible.

I speak and English and Afrikaans and teach English language to Basic and Proficient level adult learners.
My lessons are one-on-one, to personally be able to assist in diminishing the learners’ learning barriers and enables them to form a total understanding for the language.
My approach varies according to the learners' needs and end goals. To start with, we cover topics relevant to what is familiar to the learners, and then moving on to more complex areas, while building their confidence and understanding. I firmly believe the value of teaching and that I create an environment wherein the learner is encouraged to excel.
My learners can expect interesting content and insights that is engaging and based on relevant and current events. Activities that are interactive, collaborative, and varied.
