About Stephanie

Hello! My name is Stephanie and I am currently studying History and English Literature at Durham University. I am an approachable, patient and friendly person.

I have been working as a tutor for three years tutoring around twelve different students for different lengths of time. My students have been both private students and underperforming students in secondary schools, who I have taught in online tutorials whilst in their classrooms. My A Level students have gone on to exceed their target grades and got accepted by their top university choices.

I am enthusiastic about learning and enjoy currently having the opportunity to study subjects that I am passionate about at university level. I hope that through my tutorials, you will be able to gain more confidence in your subject and love learning just as much as I do.

I also enjoy helping students to craft their personal statements for university applications and to prepare for university entrance tests such as HAT and ELAT. I know how difficult this process can be, and how important it is to present yourself in the best possible light. My expertise is in helping students to apply for History and English, however I also have experience applying other subjects such as Psychology. I prepared for the ELAT for several years and achieved high marks in the HAT.

About the lesson

I hope that through my tutorials, you will be able to gain more confidence in your subject and love learning just as much as I do. I understand from my own experience at school that studying for GCSE and A Level exams can feel isolating at times and that it can be hard to get individual help on topics that you are finding harder to grasp.

I encourage all questions, no matter how big or small, during tutorials. I am happy to explain concepts to you in a variety of ways until you are confident in your understanding. I build tutoring sessions around the individual needs and learning style of each student. Everyone learns in a different way and I want to help you discover the best way for you! It is important that you get the most out of our session time and tailoring the teaching style will enable this to happen.

Can you help me with exam technique? Yes! The key to exam success is often the ability to apply your knowledge to the type of questions asked in the exam. I found it of great benefit to familiarise myself with the specimen and past papers of my exam board for my GCSE and A Level exams.
