About Ray
Teaching literature brings me joy because every lesson is unique and tailored to each student's perspective. I love listening to my students as they explore new authors, analyze delicate connections in poems, and relate their own experiences to writers from the distant past.
Literature is about making connections, and teaching it is incredibly rewarding. I am available to tutor Secondary and A-level students.

English Literature is an intriguing subject that demands curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. As an experienced teacher, I am committed to motivating my students to express their opinions, challenge my interpretations of the text, and be challenged in return. I have taught both Secondary and A-level students and love exploring the world of literature through my students' unique perspectives.
I have experience in teaching both large groups and one-to-one tuition. I hold a BA in English Literature from the University of Surrey and a Master's in English Literature from the University of Durham. I have taught English literature in Secondary Schools and led classes in Foundational studies. As a patient and thorough teacher, I help students to develop their essay writing and comprehension skills. Continued reading is essential to becoming a better literature student, and I encourage all my students to practice regularly.
My lessons typically last for an hour, but if students feel they would benefit from additional time, I am always happy to extend this.
