I firmly believe that everyone learns better with a hands on approach, and passion in regards to what it is you’re learning. I will tailor the lesson to the student’s interests, whilst ensuring that areas they may be weaker on are not neglected (if someone struggles with analysing the impact of context, yet adores reading Arthur Miller’s work, why not combine the two to build interest?). I will also take on board the things that work, and the things that do not, to ensure a productive session.
As a first-year English Literature & History student at the University of Sheffield, I distinctly remember going through the process of GCSEs and A Levels, and appreciate the rigidity of certain exam boards. I will strive to meet their requirements, whilst making sure sessions aren’t dry, or jargon heavy.
Lessons will be an hour long, although this can differ.
