About Valerie
I am not a typical tutor. The teaching frame of which I've developed a sense of reliability and efficiency from many years of tutoring 3rd-8th grade students is based on transformative and restorative teaching. Allowing the student to take direction into their own learning not only gives them a sense of comfort, but it also allows them to learn how to teach themselves which is a very important skill not only within academia but in all areas of life.

I first start the day off with an icebreaker to get the students and I more acquainted with each other. Each student is different, so my tutoring should be tailored to the student. Then, I ask what pressing concerns/issues they might be facing in class. I make sure the student is comfortable asking clarifying questions because there is no such thing as a "stupid question." The lessons are mostly for 3rd to 8th grade students.
