About Benjamin

My name is Benjamin Kell. I am a TEFL-certified English as a second language instructor.I grew up in Long Island, New York. After high school, I attended Brooklyn College. While in school I earned an invitation to be part of the Alpha Beta Gamma honor society for exemplary grades in a business program. My education, however, was not just in the classroom but in the real world as well. I took on two important internships in the fields of asset management (Merrill Lynch) as well as personal banking. I graduated from Brooklyn College in 2008. Following completion of my degree, I took a position as a call center sales representative for G.E.I.C.O insurance. I spent roughly a year with the firm and consistently sold over 100 auto insurance policies a month. At the age of 24 having not spent much time abroad, I wanted a new challenge and moved to Lima, Peru, to become an English as a second language professor. Once there I received a position teaching for a firm that provided English training to large multi-national corporations, including Penod Ricard Later wanting to work in a different, more group-oriented environment, I moved to the online platform of Open English.

There I was responsible for online instruction of students from all over the world of all different English levels using PowerPoint with new lessons daily. After two years, I moved back to the U.S. and within a few weeks I took a job as a sales representative and coach at a State Farm office. There I found success leading my office for two consecutive years in total sales revenue. More importantly, I helped develop others who were new to sales and turned them into high-level performers. Now I am here in Miami with the same goal of helping others develop in their English ability as well as in their careers! There are many great tutors in Miami; however, with me you can learn from an educator with business experience on how to effectively communicate with customers and prospects to provide them with what they need. You will not only improve in English but in your career as well. I was a consistent top 5% seller in my former career as an insurance salesman. That experience has enabled me to build a wealth of knowledge that I enjoy passing on to others.

About the lesson

I use a real life approach with a focus on current events going on in the market place. I use articles and videos from financial news sources to keep lessons interesting and up to date. I also use material to help with grammar. Lessons are based on student need as well as current level of English.
