About Shivani
I am a dedicated high school student with a strong academic background in English, including AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition, and a genuine interest in helping younger students become more confident readers. Through my coursework, I have developed strong skills in reading comprehension, vocabulary, literary analysis, and understanding challenging texts.
As a tutor, I am patient, prepared, and attentive to each student's individual needs. I understand that students learn at different speeds, so I take the time to explain unfamiliar words, reading strategies, and concepts clearly rather than rushing through a lesson.
I take every tutoring session seriously and come prepared to help students make meaningful progress. Whether a student needs support with reading comprehension, vocabulary, school assignments, or simply wants additional practice, I will create a comfortable and encouraging environment where they can ask questions and learn without pressure.
My goal is to help students become stronger, more confident readers while giving them skills they can use independently in the classroom and beyond.

Reading becomes much easier when students understand what they are reading instead of simply trying to memorize words. My goal is to help students improve their reading and vocabulary skills while building their confidence along the way.
I use a patient, personalized, and interactive approach. I adjust lessons to each student's reading level and focus on the areas where they need the most support. Rather than simply giving students definitions, I help them understand new vocabulary through context, examples, and practice using the words themselves. For reading, I encourage students to identify the main idea, make connections, understand unfamiliar words from context, and explain their thinking.
A typical lesson begins with a short review or warm-up activity. We then work through a reading passage together, discussing important ideas and unfamiliar vocabulary. After modeling how I approach the passage, I give the student opportunities to practice independently while providing guidance when needed. We finish by reviewing new vocabulary and the skills covered during the lesson.
What sets me apart is that I am a student myself, so I understand that everyone learns differently. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without feeling embarrassed. My goal is not just to help students finish an assignment, but to give them strategies they can continue using on their own.
My lessons are best suited for elementary and middle school students who want to strengthen reading, vocabulary, comprehension, and overall English skills. I can help students with schoolwork, reading practice, vocabulary development, or simply becoming more confident readers.
