About Olivia

I am a native English speaker from the United States. I love language exchange, and have taught English in China, Turkey, and the US. I have a calm and warm personality, and will always make it my goal to create a comfortable and positive learning environment. I have studied many languages myself (Japanese, Arabic, and Turkish) so I know what the language learning experience is like on a personal level. I am super excited to meet you and help you work towards your English goals, whether they are for traveling, school and occupation, or anywhere in-between.

My teaching methods focus on the student and on creating a positive, enjoyable learning experience. My teaching methods include:

Communicative Approach: Encouraging active speaking and listening to develop real-world communication skills. Lessons are structured around everyday tasks and conversations to make learning more relevant and engaging.

Personalized Learning: I will change and develop lessons to each student’s interests, goals, and learning style.

Skills Practice: Balancing reading, writing, speaking, and listening to create full language development.

Correction and Feedback: Offering constructive, immediate feedback while maintaining a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Warm-Up (5-10 minutes): A brief conversation or activity to review previous lessons and set the mood for learning.

Introduction of New Material (15-20 minutes): Introducing vocabulary, grammar, or functional language through photos, examples, or stories.

Guided Practice (20-25 minutes): Interactive exercises like role-plays, dialogues, or comprehension tasks to practice the new vocabulary and grammar.

Independent Practice (15-20 minutes): Creative activities such as writing a short paragraph, designing a dialogue, or discussing a topic to solidify understanding.
