I have taught English at the high school level for over 20 years. I have taught all levels: resource courses, academic levels, honors levels, and AP courses. My literary specialty is in American literature, but my thesis research was in British literature, so I have knowledge of both.

I like to teach by examining samples of successful essays or responses before writing begins. We learn best by first seeing a job well done.
I find that often students have great ideas and the problem is translating that to a page.
I believe a holistic approach to teaching is best, and what I mean by that is that if students feel confident and secure, they will be more motivated and perform better.
