About Deanna
I am a qualified teacher that really cares about pupils. I have been teaching in classrooms for 5 years and I have lots of experience across exam boards, the Welsh and English curriculum. What I really want, though, is for my pupils to discover a passion for knowledge, reading and learning. I want them to be successful in every way that they can and I want to help YOU achieve that.

Hello,
I am knowledgeable, professional and flexible tutor and I want to help students make great progress whatever their educational journey may look like. I have been a qualified English teacher (KS3-5) and tutor now for 5 years. I have been a classroom teacher in England and Wales so I am happy adapting to different curriculums and exam boards. I also have 2 years experience of teaching Media Studies. I am also available to help children and adults with reading, literacy skills, study skills and exam skills.
My approach is knowledge-driven but pupil led. I would work with my tutee initially to find out what they want to achieve from tutoring, whether they simply want help with study and revision skills in the lead up to GCSE, whether they want full online tuition of an exam text or whether they want to become more confidant with reading and writing. Perhaps they simply want to understand a concept better or explore an interest more holistically.
I would then create a very specific and targeted learning plan to able and facilitate this learning. Of course, it may change along the way but that is also fine! I'm happy to modify techniques and approaches to the individual needs of my tutees. I would always ensure my tutees had the skills for success.
My undergraduate degree was awarded through the University of Worcester.
My teacher training was completed with Warwick University.
5 years teaching English Years 7-13 (AQA, WJEC, EDUCAS)
2 years teaching Media Studies (Cambridge Technical, WJEC)
2 years tutoring face to face, moving online for ease.
