About Alison
All pupils are capable of progress. I understand that it can be difficult for teachers to offer the level of support required in a full classroom with pupils who have a wide variety of needs; this can create a barriers to reaching true potential so I work to remove these barriers and support students in their learning.
English is a vital subject that can improve student's access to the entire curriculum and enrich life experience. I feel very lucky to be in a position to share my passion for the subject with others and hope to instil a love of English in all of my students.

My lessons usually last for 1 hr but this can be adjusted to suit individual needs. Lessons begin with some recall to draw upon previous learning followed by a starter activity. I then offer some input on new skills or knowledge before setting a task to be completed with my support; I then encourage independence and increase challenge appropriately.
I am happy to either assess students or correspond with teachers in order to set realistic targets.
I have taught in mainstream and special education with my last teaching post being that of Deputy Head of a special school catering to pupils at all levels of attainment with SEMH difficulties.
I work to increase the confidence of students between the ages of 11 and 16 to ensure they make progress.
