About Rachel
I’m a multilingual English tutor with a passion for languages and Latin American culture, and I love working with Spanish and Portuguese-speaking learners.
I’ve studied Spanish for over a decade and understand the grammar, structure, and common challenges Spanish speakers face when learning English. I also started learning Brazilian Portuguese a year ago and have reached an intermediate level, so I know first-hand what it’s like to learn a new language and build confidence step by step.
I’ve taught online English classes to Brazilian nationals, creating engaging lessons focused on grammar, vocabulary, and real-world communication. I’m happy to explain concepts bilingually (English–Spanish or English–Portuguese).
I really enjoy meeting people from all over the world and am enthusiastic, patient, and committed to helping students reach their linguistic goals in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Techniques & teaching methodology
My lessons are student-centred, with a strong focus on real-world language and conversational use. I prioritise grammar and structure explained clearly, then applied through speaking and short exercises. I adapt lessons to each learner’s goals (conversation, confidence, exams or professional use). Deliver lessons mainly in English depending on level, but can also offer bilingual explanations (Spanish or BR Portuguese).

60 minutes.
Qualifications / experience as a tutor
I hold a BA in French and Spanish from the University of Cambridge and have over 10 years’ experience learning and using Spanish. I also have intermediate Brazilian Portuguese, which I began learning a year ago.
I’ve taught English to Brazilian nationals through a community initiative, designing engaging lessons focused on grammar, vocabulary, and everyday usage. I also work as a Freelance Linguistic Editor for DeepL.
