About Abi
I've been teaching for over 4 years and love working with my students to help them achieve their potential. I've always loved learning and studied for a degree in History, before moving to Singapore to become a teacher and travel Asia. Now, I'm back at university and studying for a masters in Sustainable Business. Having had a lot of experience as both a teacher and a student, I know how stressful studying and preparing for exams can be. That's why, I always like to make lessons and fun, engaging and personable as possible. As a little bit of laughter in a study session can go a long way!

I have 4 years of teaching experience, working with students across a whole range of ages and backgrounds. I’ve spent the last 4 years working in Singapore and teaching both group and private classes. I’ve taught students from as young as 4 years old, all the way up to A-Level, and even into adult learning.
My lessons generally involve a 5 minute warm-up, where we can chat about any studying worries and ideal focus points for that lesson. Then, catering to the level and subject, we will spend time working together on a range of different areas to hone in on that particular lesson’s focus. If required, homework can be set and we can spend time looking through this in the following lesson.
My subject focus is primarily English, History and entrance exams. I’ve helped many students take their 11+ and 13+ entrance exams, by helping them plan and prepare for the English component and the verbal-reasoning component. Additionally, I have taught students from lower primary all the way up to secondary school, GCSE, A-Level and IB in English Literature, English Language and History. With a degree in History and a strong background in writing, I am also able to offer particular support in essay writing, for all levels and subjects - whether it’s a GCSE poetry paper, a personal statement or a 1st year History essay for uni, I’m here for guidance.
As a returning university student, I know how tough studying can get. So, I always like to make my lessons personable. Over the years, I’ve had great relationships with my students and can see how this has such a positive impact on lesson productivity and student performance. Therefore, I always like to take the time to get to know my students and for them to get to know me too. After all, it makes lessons a lot more enjoyable and takes the edge off the tough studying!
