About Ela
Hello, I'm Ela! I am a first year student at Koç University Molecular Biology and Genetics department. I learned English at the same time as Turkish, so I can speak at native level. Since 2017, I have been working at Robert College's summer school in English. Before the Covid-19 bans, I had a student where I taught English math and physics. This summer, I translated articles for an academic journal, in addition to that, I translated the data of a language development research from Turkish into English.

I teach my lessons on zoom. I believe that the most natural and effective way to learn English is regular exposure to the language, so I speak entirely English in my lessons. However, if my student is at a beginner level, I can also teach a mixed English-Turkish course. My classes address students of primary, secondary and high school age. I teach classes that will improve speaking English with an American accent, vocabulary, grammar, listening and reading comprehension skills. I use English Banana activities in my lessons and solve the activities for my students by projecting them on the screen. I can send worksheets via e-mail, I recommend my students to print out before the lesson :) My homework is very fun! I assign homework such as listening to and understanding English songs or watching a TV series / movie in English according to the student's interests. In the next lesson, I make a "discussion time" about the event to measure understanding.

2020 yazında Koç Üniversitesi Dil ve Biliş Labında iki dilli (İngilizce-Türkçe) çocuklar üzerine yaptığımız araştırmada çalıştı. İngilizce düzeyi, aktarımı, anlaması ve bunu yazıya dökmesi çok ileri düzeyde. Özellikle de İngilizce iletişimde ileri düzeyde, bilgili ve rahat olduğunu düşünüyorum. Yaptığı işi çok dikkatli, özenli tamamlıyor. İngilizce'yi çok sevdiği için öğretirken de eğlenceli, güler yüzlü ve çok istekli olacaktır.
Açı Okulları mezunu olup, anadili gibi İngilizce bilmektedir.
2019 yılında Cambridge International Examinations - International General Certificate of Secondary Education sınavından A* sonucunu almıştır.
Koç Üniversitesinin İngilizce Hazırlık sınavında 100 puan üzerinden 97 alarak bölümüne direkt başlamıştır.
