About Rosaleen

Hi, I’m Rosaleen, a Dean’s List Computer Science and Statistics student at McGill University, and I’ve been tutoring English and writing for more than four years.
I graduated high school with a 100% average and a national merit scholarship, and since then I’ve been passionate about helping students succeed academically. Outside of my STEM studies, I am an avid reader and writer, which gives me both the analytical and creative perspective to guide students in literature, essay writing, and critical analysis. I love uncovering the layers of meaning in texts (from themes to symbols) and I bring that same eye for detail into my teaching.
My strength lies in taking complex ideas—whether it’s untangling a dense passage, understanding literary techniques, or shaping a strong essay—and breaking them into clear, manageable steps that build both skill and confidence.
Today, I work entirely online, teaching students across Canada, the U.S., and internationally, from Paris to Madrid to London. All you need is your computer, and we’ll make English not only approachable but something you can truly enjoy!

About the lesson

My lessons are practical, interactive, and designed to build both skill and confidence in English. Whether you need help with writing essays, analyzing literature, improving reading comprehension, or preparing for an English exam, I adapt lessons to your specific needs.
I also recognize that every student starts at a different level. For some, English is not their first language, and that can make the subject feel intimidating. I make sure lessons move at your pace, meeting you where you are and helping you feel supported every step of the way.

Here’s what you can expect:
1. Personalized Roadmap: Lessons are structured around your curriculum, goals, and areas where you want to improve.
2. Coursework Support: We will work through your assignments, teacher feedback, and class materials together until everything makes sense. Close Reading and Symbolism: I guide students to notice patterns, themes, and symbols in texts, and show how to use these insights to write stronger essays.
3. Hands-On Practice: From writing exercises to guided text analysis, we’ll practice step by step until the skills become second nature.
4. Exam Preparation: I provide strategies, practice, and feedback to help you feel confident and prepared for school exams and standardized tests.
5. Supportive Environment: I encourage questions and curiosity so that English feels approachable and rewarding instead of overwhelming.
My goal is not just to help you excel on assignments and exams, but to inspire a deeper appreciation for reading and writing that will stay with you long after the class ends.

Before coming to her, my two sons had immense difficulty understanding the math and science concepts. Thanks to her though, she’s helped my son understand each and every concept. They’ve become so much more confident in their learning abilities because she’s been so patience with them and she really cares about her students.
